Hello Everyone..

Where has the year gone?.

As usual we have  been busy - very very busy!

The beginning of the year saw several young cats come in that had been 'thrown out' after Christmas. including a three month old kitten who was put in a carrier bag and left by a dustbin!.

'Purdy' a lovely tortie girl was thrown out of a car window and 'Beth' and 'Bianca' came in severely malnourished after being kept in an airing cupboard for several months!

Once again it has been a year for people putting their 'much loved' (???!!!) pets outside...locking all the doors and moving house!!!  We have taken several cats from elderly people who could no longer cope and over a dozen from homes where the owner has died.

Spring saw the expected..kittens...kittens..kittens.....and o yes......more kittens!!!  Some born here...some dumped.....some taken away from appalling homes....and some born outside without shelter.  We took several cats in from factory sites ( all un-neutered!!)....some road accidents ( none were  chipped!!..we advertised them but only one owner came forward so the others were all re-homed)....and we took lots and lots of pregnant mums!!..and o yes.....more kittens...kittens..kittens !!!

In early Summer we had 11 seperate cases where owners emigrated and left their pets behind, either locked in an empty house or in the garden!

One of the worst cases we dealt with this year was 'Bobby' A lovely tabby boy who had been living rough in a park in Stafford and had been bullied by local 'kids'.  They burnt him...threw him up a wall and then threw him in the river.  He was in a dreadful state......and he was  starving. We see some dreadful things but I sobbed my heart out over this.  We tried everything but he was just too poorly...we kissed him and held him.......then Bobby was put to sleep.  'Goodnight God Bless Bobby..Sleep Well'

Gary went out and trapped a Mum and her 6 month old son at 'The Village Leisure Centre' in Dudley.  They were living on scraps from the bins and the hotel wanted them gone.  We neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped them and they are now in their new forever homes.

The kittens seemed to go on for ever ( so much for people neutering their cats!!!)......among the ones born here were.....

Boston..Bashful...Brian..Bessy...Brenda...Beryl..Brad...Ruby...Rolex...Reece

...Magnus...Monty...Milly..Matty...Midge...

Sally ...Sadie...Sara...Sam...Susie...and Silly (dont ask!!)

Autumn time 'Mork' came into us..he was an old boy with sunken eyes and I immediately fell in love.... I was going to save him no matter what!!  He had large abscesses on his body....he was starving..he was obviously in a lot of pain..but he was purring away!!

His heart was racing at a phenomenal speed due to thyroid problems and he was a bag of bones!
We nurtured him..fed and loved him....but .it wasnt enough....one morning Mork collapsed and started having fits....we rushed him to the vets after phoning ahead...they had  oxygen and a heat pad waiting for him but he had gone through too much for too long and his body was shutting down..there was no way back for him and Mork didnt come  back home........a sad...sad...sad...day

A lot of crying has been done this year......cruelty and neglect are everywhere.....

But........a lot of cheers have gone up as well!!

We have  raised....loved..and homed dozens and dozens of kittens...we have neutered...vaccinated ...microchipped... and homed many many adult cats ( young...adult..and slightly more 'mature'!)....and where possible we help members of the public with advice.

So....once again........tears have been shed.........tempers have been frayed....sleep has been in short supply ( Zonya hand rearing kittens!!).....but love has been in abundance for every cat and kitten staying here.

We have taken in...and homed...EVEN MORE than usual this year.
